From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 21): 2 troopers killed, 2 others wounded in Zamboanga Del Sur clash
Two troopers were killed while another two were wounded after they were attacked by heavily-armed men in Dinas, Zamboanga Del Sur, Monday morning.
Western Mindanao Command (WMC) spokesperson Major Filemon Tan said the incident took place at 8:28 this morning, in Purok 4, Guinicolalay, Dinas town.
Fallen and wounded troops are from Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN engaged in "Bayanihan" activities in the area.
"As a result, the government side suffered two killed and two wounded in action, while undetermined on the enemy side. Names of the casualties were not yet released pending notification of their immediate families," he added.
Additional military assets were dispatched for reinforcement and casualty evacuation.
As this develops, 1st Infantry Division public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Benedicto Manquiquis said the casualties are from the 53rd Infantry Battalion.
