President Duterte's pronouncement not to cut ties with PHL military allies very beneficial to nation, military

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 12): President Duterte's pronouncement not to cut ties with PHL military allies very beneficial to nation, military

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) called President Rodrigo Duterte's announcement that he will not cut ties with the country's military allies highly beneficial for the nation.

"We took note (of) this particular pronouncement by the President and our Commander-in-Chief and we see that this will more beneficial for the country and our Armed Forces," AFP public affairs office chief Col. Edgard Arevalo said in Filipino Wednesday.

Earlier, Duterte said that he will not cut ties with long-standing military allies of the country despite questioning the need for such during these times of powerful weapons and equipment.

"These are policy pronouncements and we leave (their formulation to our politicians and national leaders) as the AFP's role as a professional organization is for us to go where, and to do what our orders say," Arevalo pointed out.

He also took this opportunity to stress that the President has more information and data at his access to make his policy statements.

In line with this, the military official said that the AFP always remain supportive of the President and the Commander-in-Chief.
