The 401st Infantry Brigade, which is based in Prosperidad,
Agusan Del Sur, formally opened a two-hectare drug rehabilitation center
Thursday.
Army spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao said this is in support
of President Rodrigo Duterte's anti-illegal drug campaign.
The two-hectare facility is called the "Residential
Treatment and Rehabilitation
Center " (RTRC) and
inaugurated Thursday with Presidential Legal Adviser Atty. Salvador Panelo as
guest-of-honor, representing President Duterte.
The RTRC can accommodate 60 patients at a time and will be
administered by the provincial government of Agusan Del Sur, Hao added.
The establishment of the RTRC is in line with the province’s
drug rehabilitation program called Substance Use Recovery and Enlightenment
(SURE).
SURE aims to give victims of drug use a second chance to
life and keep them away from drug syndicates who are covering their tracks.
The 401st Infantry Brigade camp in Prosperidad has a total
land area of 334 hectares.
