The 10th Infantry ‘Agila’ Division (10ID) Philippine Army has cited a police report from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) saying the known commander of Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda under Guerilla Front (GF) 53, Southern Mindanao Regional Committe (SMRC) of the New People’s Army Noel Gulmatico alias Jepoy’s dead body’s alleged mutilation was caused by a bullet.

Moreover, a bullet entered near the left eye of Gulmatico and exited on the jaw and re-entered the chest. “The SOCO report further stated that Jepoy’s two eyes were blown-up and that his tongue and jaw were badly damaged due to the impact or shock wave inflicted by the bullet,” 10ID said.

Jepoy was killed with another NPA member during an encounter with the 39th Infantry Battalion at Brgy Balite, Magpet, Cotabato Province July 1. However, a photo of Jepoy’s dead body surfaced on Facebook allegedly mutilated with his eyes gouged out, his tongue cut and his throat slit.

The photo prompted 10ID to form a Board of Inquiry (BOI) to investigate and determine the facts.

The BOI, 10ID said, citing the SOCO report and the affidavit of the funeral parlor came up with a conclusion that soldiers of 39IB did not mutilate the dead body of the NPA commander.
