A notorious drug dealer in Laak town, Compostela Valley province died during a joint military and police operation last July 31.

In a statement on Wednesday, 10th Infantry Division public affairs office chief, Capt. Rhyan Batchar, confirmed the death of Pablo Namanig in a shootout with soldiers and policemen serving him an arrest warrant in Barangay Concepcion in Laak.

Namanig had been listed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) as one of the leading illegal drugs personalities in the area.

He also had a pending arrest warrant for murder at the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Nabunturan town.

Batchar said that as the soldiers and policemen were about to serve Namanig his warrant of arrest, the latter pulled out a .38 caliber revolver and fired several shots at the government forces, who fired back.

Namanig died at the COMVAL Provincial Hospital.

Recovered from his possessions were the .38 caliber revolver, three spent .38 caliber shells, PHP100 marked money, and "six heat-sealed cellophane containing marijuana fruiting tops."
