CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- The Army's 6th
Infantry "Kampilan" Division hosted a Muslim congregational prayer
early on Wednesday to celebrate Eid'l Fitr, the end of fasting month of
Ramadan.
About 1,200 Muslim faithful composed of soldiers, their
families and civilians gathered in front of the 6th ID grandstand at 6:00 a.m.
for an early morning congregational prayer in the observance of Eid’l Fitr.
The event marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan for the
Muslim believers, which is the season of prayer and fasting.
Capt. Joann Petinglay, 6th ID spokesperson, said the Muslim
soldiers all gathered at their cleanest attire to pray in celebration for
peace, unity and thanksgiving.
Major General Edmundo R. Pangilinan, 6th ID chief, expressed
his wholehearted solidarity with the Muslim soldiers and key stakeholders in
support to their tradition of peace and compassion.
“I wish to greet our Muslim brothers and sisters in
celebrating the Eid'l Fitr that reminds us of the need to sacrifice, fasting
and peaceful co-existence with each other,” Pangilinan said.
“I also encouraged you to join me in prayer for peace and
security in Mindanao so that economic boost
and development will reign,” he added.
After the prayer, the participants were served with Halal
meals for the traditional "Kanduli" (thanksgiving) of Islam.
This is the first time that the 6th ID hosted the Eid’l Fitr
celebration at the 6th ID grounds or in an Army Camp for a congregational prayer.
