A mass evacuation in 3 barangays is underway following confirmation of heavy fighting occuring in the town of Tipo Tipo, Basilan.
The evacuation is occurring in Tipo Tipo proper, Silangkum, and Baguindan.
The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) said troops are currently in a defensive position in Tipo Tipo following an alleged harassment by an undetermined number of Abu Sayyaf members. The firefight is reportedly located near the center of Tipo Tipo town.
