From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 7): Indonesian peace monitors arrive in Mindanao to continue peacekeeping mission

Indonesian peacekeepers have arrived here Thursday to continue its participation in ceasefire monitoring across Mindanao.

The Indonesian contingent forms part of the International Monitoring Team of the government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) ceasefire agreement.

Headed by Col. Gumuroh Winardjatmiko of the Indosian Army, arrived in Manila Thursday morning and proceeded directly to the Malaysian-led International Monitoring Team (IMT) office here.

The IMT, now headed by Malaysian Royal Armed Forces Major Gen. Datuk Wira Zamrose, is composed of peacekeepers from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and civilian conflict resolution experts from Japan and the European Union.

Two weeks ago, a team of Indonesian peace monitors, headed by Colonel Elphis Rudy, ended its one year tour of duty and returned to Jakarta.

At the IMT office here, Winardjatmiko met with Gen. Alex Macasero of the government coordinating committee on the cessation of hostilities after a brief welcome rites.
