From the Philippine Information Agency (May 23): Two rebel returnees get livelihood aid from DILG

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently awarded P65,000 worth of checks for the livelihood and immediate assistance to each of the two rebel returnees from Nagtipunan and Diffun towns.

The financial aid is part of the DILG’s Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) for rebel returnees who voluntarily return to mainstream society.

The checks were personally handed to the rebel returnees by DILG regional director John Castaneda, Reynaldo Galinato, who represented Gov. Junie Cua, police community relations chief Avelino Cuntapay, PSWD officer Agaton Pagbilao, officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other DILG officials.

The cash assistance were given to the former members of the rebel group to ensure their successful reintegration to the society and improve their socio-economic status.

Another three rebel returnees are also set to receive same assistance from the government as soon as all documents will be completed and processed.

The former rebels will also undergo skills training seminar to help them gain their livelihood.
