From the Philippine News Agency (May 26): Trooper killed, one wounded in Sulu attack

A trooper from the 35th Infantry Battalion was killed while one was wounded following an attack by still unidentified men in Jolo, Sulu Thursday early morning.

Western Mindanao Command spokesman Major Filemon Tan said the incident took place 5:30 a.m. in front of Sulu Electrical Cooperative compound in Barangay Busbus.

The victims were heading towards their headquarters and aboard a "motor sidecar" when fired upon by still unidentified gunmen aboard a motorcycle.

In the ensuing firefight, a trooper was killed while another was wounded.

Tan said the injured soldier managed to get help.

Pursuit operations are ongoing as of this posting.
