Armed Forces of the PHilippines (AFP)-Southern Luzon Command
(SOLCOM) debunked on Thursday the claim of the outlawed New People’s Army (NPA)
South Luzon-based Apolonio Mendoza Command that no less than three soldiers
were killed during the encounter the rebel group on May 21.
SOLCOM public information officer Lt. Col. Angelo Guzman
said there were neither wounded nor casualties on the side of the military
troops during the 10-minute encounter.
Military troops launched their offensive against the
insurgents around 9 a.m. on May 21 in Sitio Alat-alatin I, Barangay San
Francisco B in Lopez, Quezon.
Guzman confirmed the encounter against the outlawed NPA-wing
and an undetermined number of rebels were possibly wounded during the
firefight.
The SOLCOM official also discredited the reported
disinformation campaign waged by the rebel group and advised the public to be
more cautious on the communist propaganda.
Guzman also appeased the soldiers’ families who may be
misled by the wrong information peddled by the outlawed NPA group.
