Arrested ASG transferred to BJMP in Taguig

From the Philippine News Agency (May 24): Arrested ASG transferred to BJMP in Taguig

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Tuesday transferred the arrested Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member allegedly involved in a spate of kidnapping for ransom activities to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, in Taguig City.

Senior Supt. Ronald Lee, chief of CIDG-National Capital Region, identified the suspect as Sakur Mustakim aka JR Mustakim, who was arrested last May 10 along Bayani road in Taguig City on the strength of an arrest warrant.

Lee said the suspect was subject of a two-week surveillance operation after they received information of his presence in Metro Manila.

Mustakim carries a Php900,000 reward on his head.

Lee said Mustakim is a member of the ASG Urban Terrorist Group based in Jolo, Sulu involved in the kidnapping of six members of the Jehovah’s Witness in 2002, and the kidnapping of 21 foreign tourists in Sipadan, Malaysia in 2000.

The suspect denied the charges, saying he is working as a security guard and living in Mandaluyong City.
