Teachers and the parents are happy that  three classrooms  will be repaired by the Armed Forces of the United States and the Philippines.

 Dr. Gina Artuz, principal of Jaena Norte Elementary School in Jamindan, Capiz, said the teachers and their entire community are very happy and appreciative that they were chosen as one of the three schools to benefit from the engineering works of the Balikatan 2016 in Panay.

Aside from the Jaena Norte Elementary School, the San Nicolas Elementary School in Tapaz, Capiz and Matangharon Elementary School in Dingle, Iloilo will also be the site for the engineering work of the Balikatan Exercise in Panay Island this year.

The Balikatan Exercise in the island here is a joint humanitarian civic assistance of the United States Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“We are thankful that three new classrooms with complete electric lights and connections will be ready by the opening of classes this June for our school children,” Artuz said.

In the Jaena Norte Elementary School, a one unit three-classroom building will be repaired through the engineering work under the program.

The said building was totally destroyed after super typhoon Yolanda hit the province in November 2013..

Two comfort rooms will be built in said building and a rain collection water catchment with rain gutter and pipings towards the comfort rooms will likewise be established.

Aside from the school building project, a half-court basketball court in said school will also be concreted by the engineering team.

Artuz said that the project is a blessing to the estimated 36 students who will be attending their classes this June.

“With these new and fully furnished classrooms, the students and teachers will have a decent place for teaching and learning,” she said.
