CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, GAMU, Isabela -- The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (5ID, PA) based in the town of Gamu was successful in implementing its Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) in its area of jurisdiction.

The IPSP has caused the strengthening of cooperation between the army and the various sectors in the former’s area of jurisdiction thus achieving peace in Regions 1, 2 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Army sergeant Jake Lopez of the civil military operations (CMO) battalion said the close coordination with local chief executives, sectoral heads and other leaders in the three regions is the key to keep the place peaceful.

Meanwhile, the camp's soldiers are prepared to secure the conduct of the May 9, 2016 national and local elections.

Lopez said that the Army Division has enough soldiers to ensure the peaceful conduct of the electoral process in its area of jurisdiction.
