AFP units in heightened alert following Jakarta terror attacks

From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 14): AFP units in heightened alert following Jakarta terror attacks

In the wake of the terror attacks which left at six people dead in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced on Thursday that it is placing its units in all areas in heightened alert.

"AFP is now elevating alert levels to heightened alert in all areas," AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto Padilla said in a text message to the Philippines News Agency.

This is to ensure a state of readiness should there be a need to respond to certain contingencies, he added.

However, Padilla clarified that there are no threats monitored in the Philippines.

"None monitored so far. Security sector agencies maintain a proactive stance to prevent such incidents," he said.
