CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City (DWDD) – The 4th Infantry Division renewed its vow for the adherence to the provisions of Human Rights through a ceremonial pledge of commitment led by Reverent Ricardo Yul Yañez, Senior Minister, UCCP, Cagayan de Oro City and Atty. Jerefe T Bacang, OIC Regional Director of Commission on Human Rights Region 10 held at Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

Rev Yañez graced the ceremonial oath taking for 4ID troops with a theme “Karapatang Pantao: Igalang, Ipagtanggol, Isakatuparan”. He said, “You are the protector of every Filipino. We hope that with this renewal of commitment, People will see a better soldier.

“When I was invited to speak before our soldiers, I remember that we are people who believe in one God. I saw God-fearing soldiers who pledged their commitment to protect our people and that is humility.” Rev Yañez added

Atty Bacang also lauded during her speech, the new generation soldiers. She said, “It is very important for every member of the AFP to uphold and respect the Human Rights for this defines your true character as a soldier of Peace. For the past years, I saw a very drastic change in your performance. We have observed your strict adherence to these provisions. We are now facing a different kind of soldiers who are loved by the people.

In response, BGen Paul T Atal, Human Rights officer of 4th Infantry Division read the message of MGen Oscar T Lactao, Commander of 4ID, he quoted, “A while ago, we have just renewed our oath of adherence to Human Rights and committed ourselves to advocating Human Rights. This day is the validation of our oath in making our Internal Peace and Security Operations, Human Rights-based, and bound within the purview of Philippine Laws and International Humanitarian Law; for peace can only be truly just and lasting if it is based on respect for life, Human Rights, and dignity.”

“Let us never compromise the values that we seek to defend. For this will be the source of our strength and the weakness of our adversaries; this will be the key to finally winning just and lasting peace based on Human Rights and dignity; the peace that our Nation deserves.

After the message, soldiers and guests signed at the wall of commitment for the renewal of adherence to the provision of Human Rights. 4DPAO / MCAG
