Five members of the New People’s Army (NPA) yielded to various units of 10th Infantry (Agila) Division during the Yuletide season, the Army’s information officer in the southern and eastern Mindanao reported.
In a statement, Captain Rhyan Batchar, chief of information office of 10th ID, said the rebels with the support of local community leaders yielded in two batches last December 23 and 24.
Batchar said among those who surrendered was Alias Jerwin, the team leader of Guerrilla Front 20 operating in Davao provinces; Dave, 22, one alias Reyboy, 23, who are members of Guerilla Front 71 operating in southern Mindanao; and Alias Javier, 21 and Alias Soy, both members of security command 15 and 18 of the NPAs in Davao area.
The NPAs identified only by their aliases for security reasons while undergoing processes before they will be allowed to return to their communities, Batchar clarified.
