From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 19): 4th ID activates all units for possible 'Onyok' relief efforts

The Cagayan De Oro-based 4th Infantry Division has activated its “Luwas Katawhan” (Save the People) to aid local disaster response units and other partner units in Region 10 and 13 in mitigating possible backlash caused by "Onyok" whom latest weather reports has now weakened into just a low-pressure area.

Military units in the area will help in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions, 4th Infantry Division spokesperson Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez said.

“In times of disaster we have to focus our efforts in HADR. We have to be proactive in our actions in order to mitigate the effect (of 'Onyok'),"4th Infantry Division acting chief-of-staff Col. Jose Elly Alberto added.

The unit has now activated five disaster response task groups all over CARAGA (Region 13) and Region 10.

Moreover, the 4th Infantry Division also activated the Emergency Response Company or ERC to be deployed initially in Cagayan De Oro City for HADR mission.
