Cops file charges vs. 11 men linked to Maguindanao ambush

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 2): Cops file charges vs. 11 men linked to Maguindanao ambush

Police have filed multiple murder charges against 11 men believed to be behind the ambush of a family of five in Barangay Dulangan, Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS), Maguindanao on Oct. 26, police said Monday.

”The information sheet has been forwarded to the provincial prosecutor’s office,” Chief Insp. Lendsy Sinsuat, DOS town police chief.

Of the 11 suspects, only five have been positively identified by the two survivors of the 4:30 p.m. ambush that killed five persons belonging to Ayunan clan, including a four year old boy.

Sinsuat refused to identify the suspects pending their arrest.

Citing statement from two survivors, Sinsuat said the victims were heading for Cotabato City from Gen. Santos City and they noticed two vehicles, a pick-up and a van, tailing them from Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

Sinsuat said that upon reaching Barangay Dulangan, one of the two vehicles overtook the Toyota Innova and blocked its path.

Then armed men alighted and started firing at them, the police chief said. He added that the elder victim, Bai Linang Ayunan, 50, has begged the gunmen to spare her 4-year-old grandson, to no avail.

The survivors, a 29 and a 27 year-old male and female, were seated at the rear portion of Innnova and sustained minor injuries.

Earlier, Sinsuat said the ambush was triggered by a clan war involving big Maguindanaon clan in Cotabato City.
