CAMP CAPINPIN, TANAY, Rizal -- The 1st Infantry (Always First) Battalion in Tongohin Village, Infanta, Quezon and 80th Infantry (Steadfast) Battalion in Pinugay Village, Baras, Rizal of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) here have new commanders.

In a news release received on Wednesday (Nov. 18), Major General Romeo Gan, AFP, commander of 2ID presided the installation of former 202 Infantry Brigade (IB) Executive Officer Lieutenant Colonel Christopher C. Tampus INF (GSC) Philippine Army (PA) as Battalion Commander of the 1st IB in Infanta, Quezon and former G7, 2ID as the Battalion Commander of 80th IB in Baras, Rizal.

In his message, MGen Gan urged all officers and troops of “Always First” and “Steadfast” battalions to give their all-out support to their new battalion commander in order to continuously sustain peace and development within the 2ID’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

He also expressed his trust and confidence to the newly installed battalion commanders who are competent enough to handle the position as they have undergone various trainings both local and abroad.
