The military's Joint Task Group-National Capital Region
(JTF-NCR) is not expecting any violent incidents to mar the Asia-Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting in Metro Manila in November.
"We are not expecting violent incidents like terrorist
attacks (to mar the APEC meeting)," JTF-NCR deputy commander Col. Vic
Tomas said Thursday.
"(Ongoing now are) continuous coordination, rehearsal,
testing of capabilities of (various) task units and of course, how fast we can
we respond to any crisis situations," he added.
When asked about possible worse case scenarios, he said they
are preparing for the so-called CBRNE or chemical biological radiological
nuclear and explosives risk, as well as earthquakes and other natural
calamities.
Tomas said they are constantly preparing for any event that
might happen as part of the "full spectrum risk management preparedness
protocols".
Tomas said they are also monitoring and coordinating with
their international counterparts on terrorism concerns.
