The Department of Foreign Affairs is validating the identity
of the foreign national who was identified as Filipino and arrested in Saudi Arabia
for alleged involvement in terrorism.
DFA spokesman Charles Jose said the Philippine embassy in Riyadh has already
requested access to the woman identified by Saudi media as Lady Gioi Aban Bali
Nang.
“Our embassy would like to see her face to face and talk to
her to verify her identity and nationality,” Jose said.
The woman was caught wearing a vest packed with explosives.
She was arrested along with a Syrian man, who reportedly abducted her.
Jose said the embassy is waiting for the Saudi Foreign
Ministry to grant their request for access.
"We’ll be able to get more details once the embassy
talks to her. We are still awaiting word from the ministry,” Jose said.
