Charges filed vs physician’s abductors in Zambo

From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Oct 18): Charges filed vs physician’s abductors in Zambo

THE police have filed criminal case against the suspects behind botched abduction of a physician in an east coast village of Zamboanga, an official announced Sunday.

Superintendent Nonito Asdai, Police Station 6 chief, said an inquest case for attempted abduction was filed on Saturday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects.

Asdai said one of the suspects was identified a Kusar Atari, who was arrested just after the botched abduction of Dr. Armando Iturralde last Thursday night in the village of Talon-Talon, east of this city.

Iturralde was busy attending his patients when Atari and his companions arrived and forcibly dragged the physician outside the clinic.
However, Iturralde managed to get loose and ran towards the second floor of his clinic and hid until police arrived.

Police Station 6 personnel arrested Atari while his companions sped towards the mangrove area aboard a white multicab vehicle.

Asdai said Atari has availed his right to preliminary investigation by signing 15 days waiver. The latter is presently detained at the Police Station 6 headquarters.
