Various tactical doctrines were explored and completed
during the course of the two-week conduct of the 9th Philippine Air
Force-Philippine Navy Interoperability Exercise DAGIT.
PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya stressed this as the
aerial maneuvers formally ended Friday with short ceremonies at the 15th Strike
Wing headquarters, Sangley Point, Cavite .
The 9th PAF-PN Interoperability Exercise DAGIT started on
Sept. 7.
The doctrines tackled in the two-week exercise include
integrated air defense, maritime security, APEC security operations,
search-and-rescue and test of PAF and the PN joint warfare capabilities towards
modernization.
DAGIT exercises, which started in 2007, is designed solely
for Philippine major military units and equipment.
Its goal is to improve the major services' joint training,
rules of engagement, techniques, tactics, procedures in various situations.
"It also further developed and improved existing PAF
and PN’s operational capabilities in defending territorial airspace and
territorial waters as part of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines)'s
mandate," Canaya said.
Significantly, the duration of exercise was increased to two
weeks compared to one week in previous years and night operations was
introduced this year for the first time on account of upgraded night capability
of all PAF helicopters to include the new B-412EPs combat utility helicopters
and new thermal-imaging capable AW-109Es.
Also, the C-130 cargo plane was also included for the first
time in the air drop of paratroopers in Caballo Island
as the venue of a field training exercises.
This year’s PAF-PN joint exercise was participated in by
around 230 Air Force personnel along with 16 aircraft which include S-211 jets,
S-76 air ambulances, Sokol rescue helicopters, UH-1H and UH-1D and C-130.
