A Philippine Army (PA) K-9 team led rescuers to the remains
of one of the landslide victims in the mining area of Mankayan, Benguet late
Friday afternoon.
The K-9 team, one of the two deployed by the PA in the area,
and headed by by Sgt. Wilfredo M. Fiesta, successfully retrieved one male
cadaver, believed to be one of the missing pocket miners, while conducting
search-and-retrieval operations at the landslide area at Barangay Taneg,
Mankayan, Benguet at 4:20 p.m. Friday.
Col. Benjamin Hao, PA spokesperson, said the body is
unidentified as of this time.
He added that their K-9 teams will continue to participate
in the ongoing search-and-retrieval efforts.
Around 12 miners in the region were believed buried in the
landslide during the onslaught of Typhoon "Ineng" last week.
