Trooper hurt during NPA clash in Davao Del Norte

From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 15): Trooper hurt during NPA clash in Davao Del Norte

While on security patrol, a trooper from the 68th Infantry Battalion was shot and wounded during an encounter with New People's Army (NPA) bandits at Sitio Bagang, Barangay Palma Gil in Talaingod town, Davao Del Norte Thursday morning.

Eastern Mindanao Command public affairs office chief Capt. Alberto Caber said that pursuit operations were still ongoing as of this posting.

Caber said the 68th Infantry Battalion had been providing security patrols in the area after continuous report from the villagers on the extortion activities by the NPA bandits.

Eastern Mindanao Command head Lt. Gen. Aurelio B. Baladad earlier directed military unit commanders in the region to intensify its security operations to protect the people in the far-flung areas from the NPA's illegal activities.
