From the Philippine Information Agency (Jul 31): OPAPP and partners craft communication plan for Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan
A total of 28 government personnel from line government agencies and local government units in Davao Region joined in the regional planning workshop on communicating Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan at the Waterfront Insular Hotel from July 30 to 31.
The program aims to improve the capability of all information officers down to the local government units to communicate the Pamana Program and projects to all peoples, including beneficiaries, decision makers using the mainstream, social media and informal channels.
Efren Elbanbuena, director of the Philippine Information Agency 11 urged participants to be wary of the interplay of context, characters and consequences in conveying stories on Pamana projects.
He said Pamana must be reported positively, with involvement of its beneficiaries and everyone involved in the decision-making process, and its impact to the community once the project is implemented.
“This is how different we are in presenting facts compared to the private media that focuses on conflict, crisis and controversies,” Elbanbuena said.
He stressed that awareness on Pamana programs and projects must be heightened especially to its beneficiaries.
Participants discussed and deliberated a communication plan that will be used by the respective provinces of Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental to establish the awareness of all stakeholders regarding the Pamana program.
Representatives from implementing agencies of the Pamana programs and projects coming from local government units expressed the relevance of the activity, particularly on creating awareness of the peace programs of the government among the residents.
