Military hospital releases body of slain ASG leader to wife, kin

From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 16): Military hospital releases body of slain ASG leader to wife, kin

The body of slain Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) sub-leader Mahmur Jupuri was claimed by his family from the military hospital in Jolo, Sulu Wednesday night.

This was disclosed by Joint Task Group Sulu commander Col. Alan Arrajado in a message to the PNA.

"At around 21:25 (9:25 p.m.), a certain Bario Darhamil Sali Ladja alias "Damlag" of Barangay Tumantangis, Indanan, Sulu and (Jupuri's) wife Jurmina has claimed the cadaver of the just neutralized ASG sub-leader at KHTBSH (Kutang Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital)," he added.

Investigation also revealed that Jurmina was the daughter of ASG sub-leader Amama, the leader of Parang-Indanan based ASGs.

"The wife of Mahmur was accompanied by Tamaraw (FX) driver Pasar Majid. The Sulu PPO (Provincial Police Office) investigation section conducted through investigation proceedings to support future proceedings," he added.

Arrojado also said that personnel from KHTBSH processed other pertinent data for substantial evidence.

Jupuri was killed in the 4:30 p.m. encounter at Barangay Poblacion, Indanan, Sulu. He has outstanding warrants of arrest for his involvement in kidnapping, serious illegal detention and murder.

Arrojado added that upon the successful neutralization of the ASG bandit, all Joint Task Group Sulu units are on the lookout to preempt any escalation or "pintakasi".

"Recovered during neutralization was one cal. 45 pistol, one magazine and ammos," Arrojado said.

No losses were reported among government troops.

Jupuri is also known to be involved in the kidnapping of the Malaysian couple in Sandakan, Malaysia last May 14.
