Philippine Coast Guard vessels are getting communications and surveillance upgrades as part of $25 million contract for the second phase of National Coast Watch Center. The contract was awarded by United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

The said contract also includes installation of a common operating picture platform in the National Coast Watch Control (NCWC) and National Coast Watch Stations in two different Philippine provinces. Raytheon will also design, install and test electro/optical infrared cameras.

Raytheon will also establish a training center and work on the sustainment, training, and transition of capabilities to the government of the Philippines.

“Our approach is based on a deep understanding of security needs that results in tailored solutions with the most appropriate capabilities to protect the sovereign borders of our customers,” said Todd Probert, vice president for Mission Support and Modernization at Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services.

The government of United States provided $20 million for the first phase of National Coast Watch Center. It was inaugurated April 28 this year.
