From the Philippine News Agency (Jun 19): Catapang feted by Indonesian counterparts

For his efforts in improving and strengthening the partnership of the Philippine and Indonesia governments, Armed Forces chief-of-staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang was bestowed the Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama (Grand Meritorious Military Order) Award by his Indonesian military counterparts Friday.

The AFP chief received the award from his Indonesian counterpart General DR. Moeldoko in a ceremony at Tentara National Indonesia (TNI) headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The award, also known as the Defense Meritorious Service Star, is the highest recognition granted to foreign nationals for invaluable services rendered not only to the Tentara National Indonesia/National Defense Armed Forces but also to the Republic of Indonesia in general.

Recipients of the award had contributed particularly in the promotion, advancement and development of the TNI, the armed forces of the Republic of Indonesia.

The award also signifies the strong bond between the Philippines and Indonesia.
