From ABS-CBN (May 6): Why MILF fighters may get P6.3-M bounty on Usman
Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels are eligible to receive the P6.3 million reward for killing terrorist Abdul Basit Usman, a military official said Wednesday.
This, after the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed that MILF fighters killed Usman.
In an interview on DZMM, AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala said any civilian informant who does not work for the government is entitled to receive the reward.
He added that the civilian informant may be a member of the MILF, since it is not specified in the rules.
"Oo. Basta, wala namang sinabi kung kuwan ka. Basta civilian lang ang sinasabi. 'Yun ang policy nila," Kakilala said.
He, however, clarified that claimants have undergo screening and validation by the the Rewards and Evaluation Committee.
Usman was killed in an encounter in Camp Afghan in Guindulungan, Maguindanao on May 3.
