A SOLDIER was wounded when troops belonging to the 69th Infantry Battalion encountered members of the New People’s Army in Barangay Fatima, Paquibato District on Wednesday afternoon.
Lt. Vergel Lacambra, spokesperson of 10th
Infantry Division, identified the wounded as Pfc Alvin Abellon who
sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg.
He was airlifted by a helicopter and brought to Panacan army
hospital for treatment.
Lacambra said the soldiers clashed with at least 20 members
of the of Pulang Bagani Command 1 in Sitio Kimotod.
Maj. Gen. Eduardo Ano, commander of 10th ID, said
the soldiers will continue to hunt down the armed group. “We will work harder
just to keep our communities safe and secure from NPA threats,”Ano said.
