A suspected leader of the New People's Army (NPA) was arrested by combined elements of various police forces in Batangas on Thursday morning.
Norberto Sabulao Borrico, alias Gilberto, Isaw, Kikoy, and Steve, 55, said to be the Front Secretary of the Front Committee-1, Sub-Regional Committee Arctic of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party of the NPA, was nabbed by police at about 5:50 a.m. in Brgy. Niogan, Lemery, Batangas.
Also arrested was NPA member Eveleyn Villones Flauta, 36, alias Indi, Eldi, and Banis. Flauta is said to be with the NPA Medic Team.
Both Borrico and Flauta are from Western Samar and are residents of Brgy. Niogan in Lemery, Batangas.
Borrico and Flauta were arrested by virtue of warrants issued for murder and frustrated murder, signed by Judge Decoroso M. Turla of Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Lao-Ang, Northern Samar.
Borrico may also face a case of violating Republic Act 9516 for the unlawful possession of an explosive.
A hand grenade, various documents, two laptops, one tablet/notebook computer, seven USBs, a hard drive, five phones, a bank book and ATM card were found in the NPA members' possession.
Both NPA members are held without bail by the 4ARCIDU Office at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna.
