Abu Sayyaf demands P10M for release of 2 teachers

From the Manila Bulletin (Mar 14): Abu Sayyaf demands P10M for release of 2 teachers

Two days after it freed a public school teacher, the Urban Terrorist Group of the Abu Sayyaf (UTG-ASG) has demanded a P10-million ransom for the safe release of two public elementary school teachers the bandit group kidnapped early this month in Talusan town  in Sibugay province.

Zamboanga City Police Director  Sr Supt Angelito Casimiro said the ransom demand was relayed to the families of the victims who were still hoping that the kidnappers will release their relatives them even without paying any bounty.

The ASG is holding captive public school teachers Reynadit Silvano, 34 and Russel Bagonoc, 22 in a forested area somewhere in  Basilan province.

The two public school teachers were kidnapped last March 5 at around 8 a.m. by six members of the  ASG while they were on their way to the Tuburan Elementary School in Barangay Moalboal, Talusan.

The kidnappers were later identified by the police as brothers Naim Sabdani, Mansul Sabdani, and Amadan Sabdani, residents of Barangay Moalboal, Talusan; Edimar Isnain and two other unidentified persons. They were reported to be members of the ASG-UTG.

Casimiro said the police here has already informed Sibugay province Governor Wilter Palma about the development and the P10-million ransom demand of the kidnappers.

Last  Wednesday, the ASG release Allyn Muksan Abdurajak, 44, of the Jolo School of Fisheries, unharmed.

Abdurajak was abducted by two ASG gunmen operating in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu at around 6:10 p.m. Tuesday. Marathon negotiations between her relatives and the kidnappers resulted her early release.
