From InterAksyon (Feb 12): MILF's Iqbal arrives at Senate for Mamasapano hearing
Mohagher Iqbal, chief peace negotiator of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, arrived at the Senate Thursday morning to attend the chamber's third hearing on the bloody January 25 Mamasapano incident.
Iqbal, who also chairs the Bangsamoro Transition Council, was chosen by the MILF Central Committee to present the organization's side in the probe into the Maguindanao clash that left 44 Special Action Force policemen, 18 MILF fighters and at least five civilians dead during an operation to get wanted Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, alias "Marwan," who is also said to have died.
In an earlier letter to Senator Grace Poe, chair of the committee on public order and dangerous drugs, Iqbal requested that he speak in executive session.
His presence at the Senate also implies that the MILF has completed its own investigation into the Mamasapano clash.
