No more threat

Posted to the Visayas Newsbit section of the Manila Bulletin (Nov 29): No more threat

Jordan, Guimaras — The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) no longer sees communist insurgency as a threat in the island province of Guimaras.

For the 301st Infantry Brigade (301 IB) of 3ID, the absence of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (NPA) has made the socio-economic, agro-industrial and infrastructure development activities of Guimaras province bullish.

Guimaras was jointly declared insurgency-free six years ago by the Guimaras provincial government, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) and 3ID.

“Since then, no violent incident has been attributed to the CPP-NPA,” said Colonel Eric Uchida, 301 IB commander.
