Military to help indigenous communities

From the Manila Times (Sep): Military to help indigenous communities

The military on Wednesday said it will help Indigenous People (IP) communities in Mindanao to stop them from supporting the New People’s Army (NPA).

Newly-installed Eastern Min-danao Command chief Maj. Gen. Aurelio Baladad noted that three in every four members of the NPA are Indigenous People. He said this is a proof of the vulnerability of the IP communities in the regions under his command to be lured into joining or supporting the communist armed movement.

This is the reason why Baladad wants to give a special attention to IP communities across the regions under his command.
