This is an official letter from a group of Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines
to the family of the two hostages, and to the Government of Germany and the Philippines:
To achieve our demands, otherwise they will slaughter one of the two hostages, God willing.
1. and the first of our demands have to pay us 250 Million pesos versus release (in addition to the requirement of the second) .
2. and the second: to stop post support from the Government of Germany to America, in the killing of our Muslim brothers in Iraq and the Levant in general, and the Mujahideen of the Islamic State in particular.has Forewarned is forearmed!

Ang jamaat abu sayyaf ay opisyal na nagbibigay babala sa pamilya na mga hostage,sa gobyerno ng alemanya(Germany),sa gobyerno ng pilipinas philippines)–UNA,ibigay ang hinihingi naming 250 Milyong Piso hanggang sa Oktobre 10,2014–kung hindi, wawasakin namin (sa pamamagitan ng pagpugot)ang isa sa aming hostage.
PANGALAWA,
na dapat ihinto ng gobyerno ng Alemanya(Germany)ang pagtulong sa Amerika sa ginagawa nitong pagpatay sa mga kapatid namin
mga muslim sa Iraq at Sham(Syria,Jordan,Lebanon at Palestine) ta sa mga kapatid namin mujahideen sa Dawlah Islamiyah.
