PAF prepositions weather plane in Isabela for cloud seeding

From the Philippine News Agency (Jun 9): PAF prepositions weather plane in Isabela for cloud seeding

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Monday announced that it has prepositioned a Cessna LC-210 "Centurion" aircraft in Cauyan, Isabela for possible clouding seeding missions.

Lt. Col. Enrico Canaya, PAF spokesperson, said the aircraft is at the disposal of the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM).

"(The aircraft) is now prepositioned for future cloud seeding operations upon instruction from BSWM," he added.

The plane is operated by the 900th Air Force Weather Group which is based in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The PAF earlier aided the BSWM in its cloud-seeding operations last May.

One of the aims of the cloud-seeding operation is to replenish the dwindling water levels at Angat Dam (Bulacan), La Mesa Dam (Quezon City), San Roque Dam (Pangasinan-Benguet), and Magat Dam (Isabela).

The LC-210 can only be flown by a single pilot but can carry five passengers while reaching a maximum speed of 204 knots (235 mph or 378 km/h) at a height of 17,000 ft (5,200 m).
