CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City -- Major General Felicito Virgilio M. Trinidad on Monday formally assumed his new post as the commander of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The change of command was held at the NOLCOM headquarters and was graced by AFP chief of staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista.

Trinidad, a native of Iriga City in Bicol Region, is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) (Sandigan) class of 1982.

He is the 25th NOLCOM commander after replacing Lt. General Gregorio Pio P Catapang, who was designated as the AFP's vice chief of staff last May 23, 2014.

The new NOLCOM chief will supervise the operations of three major services, namely two infantry divisions in Isabela and Nueva Ecija; Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL) in La Union; and Tactical Operation Group 1,2,& 3 (TOG) in Baguio, Isabela and Tarlac.

Prior to his designation as NOLCOM commander, Trinidad held the position as commander of 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army base in Zambonga Del Sur.

His significant assignments and positions were: Branch Chief, OG5, PA from July 1, 1995-June 15, 1998; Executive Officer, 201 Brigade, 2ID, PA from June 22, 1998 to October 15, 1998; Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, G7, 2ID, PA from October 16, 1998 to August 31, 1999; Commander of 16IB, 2ID, PA from September 1999 to 10 August 2000; Commander of 14IB, 8ID, PA from January 21, 2002 to September 1, 2003; Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans & Policy, O5, PA from June 25, 2007 to August 5, 2009; Assistant Division Commander, 1ID, PA from April 19, 2012 to August 23, 2013; and commander of 1ID from August 23, 2013 to June 08, 2014.

As proofs to his remarkable accomplishment and achievements are the several awards and decorations he received both from civilian and military organizations.
