From ABS-CBN (May 31): Robbery, intimidation raps filed vs alleged Reds in Nasugbu
BATANGAS - Police have formally filed cases of robbery and intimidation against three suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) and 12 others in connection with the burning of construction equipment in Nasugbu town last May 3.
Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director and head of Special Investigation Task Group (SITG)-Toreja identified the suspects as Leslie Cresino alias Dasia/Jesie/Olay, Remoso Franco and Michael Cabrera.
Fidel said the three were members of the Komite Probinsya ng Batangas or KOMPROB-Batangas of the NPA operating in the province.
According to the complaint sheet, the three rebels, including their 12 other comrades, were allegedly responsible in the burning of construction equipment owned by Dionisio Toreja of the Toreja Construction Company.
Police said the three rebels were positively identified by the workers from the rouges gallery.
At around 9 p.m., the rebels allegedly stormed the construction site of Toreja in Sitio Buntog, Barangay Bulihan in Nasugbu and simultaneously burned two bulldozers, three backhoes, a grader, a road roller, a pay loader and a water tanker truck with an estimated cost of P25 million.
No one was reported hurt in the incident when the rebels herded all the workers in one location and confiscated all their cellphones.
Police and members of the 730th Combat Group of the Philippine Air Force responded to the incident, but the rebels were able to escape towards Magallanes town in Cavite.
Fidel said they will file cases of arson against the suspects after other evidences have been completed.
