From the Mindanao Examiner BlogSpot site (May 31): Blast hits Philippine town
A powerful improvised explosive went off Saturday outside the house of a village chieftain in Lambayong town in Sultan Kudarat province in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said blast damaged a truck parked outside the house of Ferdinand Agduma, but no one was killed or injured in the noontime attack. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the bombing and police launched an investigation into the blast.
Agduma is the son of the current town mayor, Florante Agduma, and police are investigating whether the bombing was connected to politics or not, or if the official was the target of the attack.
Police said the bomb used in the attack was assembled from a 60mm mortar.
