From the Manila Bulletin (May 28): Bomb experts defuse IED in Cotabato
PIKIT, North Cotabato – Bomb experts defused on Tuesday night an improvised explosive device (IED) recovered in Poblacion here, police reports said.
Inspector Mautin Pangandigan, officer-in-charge of Pikit PNP, said the bomb was discovered next to the videoke house owned by a certain Rene Labanon located along Macapendeg Street, Poblacion, around 8 p.m., Tuesday.
Pangandigan said the IED was fashioned from 60-mm mortar with nine volts battery and a mobile phone as triggering device.
Witnesses told Pangandigan that three unidentified males who acted as customers of Rene Labanon’s videoke house left a ‘mysterious’ package just beside the store.
The EOD team led by Sgt. Edwin Regori confirmed it was an IED and had it disrupted and rendered safe, around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday.
