From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 11): Army soldier wounded in encounter with NPA rebels in Sorsogon

A Philippine Army soldier was wounded in an encounter with New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio (sub-village) Inarado, Barangay Bugtong, Barcelona, Sorsogon, at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

A police report identified the wounded Army member as Pfc. Arnulfo Copla, assigned with the PA’s 31st Infantry Battalion, who was rushed to the Sorsogon Doctors Hospital.

The report said the soldiers were on security patrol in the area when they met the group of NPA dissidents who were coming out of the village.

A 10-minute encountered ensued where Copla was wounded.

The rebels fled upon seeing the coming reinforcement from the government side.
