From ABS-CBN (Mar 20): 1 dead in AFP-NPA encounter in Rizal
A New People's Army (NPA) guerrilla died in an encounter with the Philippine Army in Sitio Wawa, Barangay San Rafael in Rodriguez, Rizal Thursday.
According to Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan of Rodriguez Police Station, joint forces from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) intensified its efforts to clear the area of rebels
.
They are also expecting the death toll to increase as clashes continue.
The military strengthened its security patrol operations in the area in time with the NPA's celebration of its 45th founding anniversary on March 29.
