The Maguindanao provincial government and the Army’s Sixth Infantry Division (6ID) jointly launched here Tuesday the “Light for Work” and “Solar Street Lights” programs aimed at easing poverty and development problems in the area.

Expressing their earnestness to the initiative, the 6ID opened here a one-stop shop for interested parties to process documents before personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Foreign Affairs and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Job offers include welding, carpentry, masonry, electrical works, and driving and household services, among others.
Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu declared that the jobs’ program is also open to families of Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters operating in the province.
"No one should be left behind in this development effort,” he said.
Maj. Gen. Romeo Gapuz, 6ID commander, said that recruiting agency Global Asia Alliance Consultant, Inc (GAACI) has assured that all processing procedures at the camp are for free.
“There are absolutely no illegal recruiters with this type of program,” he said.
Raul Catuiran, GAACI operation supervisor, said those qualified are assured of their safety abroad as they would consistently monitor the whereabouts of the workers with their employers.
This developed as Mangudadatu said the provincial government is set to erect soon solar-powered light posts in remote areas of the province.

“I just hope that community-beneficiaries of this lighting project would take care of the posts for them to somehow enjoy the benefits of having lights at night,” the governor said.
Maguindanao, whose capital is Shariff Aguak in the second district, has 36 towns with 506 villages bordering the provinces of Lanao del Sur to the north, Cotabato to the east, and Sultan Kudarat to the south.
