From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 10): US commits air, naval forces in ongoing relief ops for typhoon 'Yolanda' victims

Air and naval forces of the United States were committed to help in the ongoing relief and rescue operations for the victims of super typhoon "Yolanda".

This was announced by the Philippine Embassy in Washington on its Twitter account.

"Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel instructs US Pacific Command to support humanitarian relief operations in the Philippines," it said.

"US committing air and naval assets to assist in maritime search and rescue and provide additional lift capability for Philippine Government," it added.

On Saturday, the US Embassy in Manila said US soldiers are helping the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in conducting damage assessment in Eastern Visayas.
