NPA seize 6 lumad barangay bets in Agusan del Sur - military

From InterAksyon (Oct 25): NPA seize 6 lumad barangay bets in Agusan del Sur - military

The New People’s Army has allegedly kidnapped six lumad (indigenous people) who are running in Monday’s barangay elections in Agusan del Sur, the military said Friday.

Captain Alberto Caber, public information chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command, said a soldier was wounded when he caught up with the rebels who snatched Lito Andalaque, Balaba Andalaque, Reynaldo Piodos, Marvin Bantuasan, Gina Bantuasan and Pepe Subla in Barangay Sabud, Loreto town Thursday morning, in an alleged attempt to “influence the barangay election.”

The local government is organizing a crisis management team to address the kidnapping while police and troops of the 26th Infantry Battalion are pursuing the rebels, Caber said.
