Artillery fire from the military have killed four Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF)in M'lang, North Cotabato Wednesday, military sources said.

Operations against the BIFF started around 9:30 a.m.at Sitio Pedtad, Barangay Gaunan and ended around 1 p.m.

Capt. Antonio Bulao, 602nd Infantry Brigade civil-military operations officer, said they have used "sufficient artillery fire" against about 140 rebels in the locality which lies beside the Liguasan Marsh.

He added they used artillery fire as the area being held by the BIFF is surrounded by marshes and difficult to enter.

Bulao said that brigands retreated towards S.K. Pendatun town of Maguindanao and Tulunan, North Cotabato, aboard 11 boats, taking with them their dead and wounded comrades.
