Army brigade participates in medical mission in hinterland village of Negros Oriental

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 27): Army brigade participates in medical mission in hinterland village of Negros Oriental

The Medical and Dental Team of the Philippine Army’s 302nd Brigade and volunteer nurses participated in the Medical and Dental Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) held this week in the hinterland village of Dawis in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.

The MEDCAP is spearheaded by the MAG-DEGAMO Medical Team of Negros Oriental, under the leadership of Governor Roel Degamo, to provide basic services to residents in far-flung areas of the province.

The MEDCAP was held Wednesday at the Dawis Community Primary Hospital in commemoration of its first founding anniversary, said Capt. Cresencio Gargar, the brigade spokesperson, in a media release Friday.

Other organizations involved in the MEDCAP were the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the Philippine National Red Cross, the Department of Education and the Dawis Community Primary Hospital health workers.

More or less 1,064 residents of Barangay Dawis, Bayawan City, to include the adjacent barangays availed of the free medical and dental services, circumcision, minor surgical operation, blood examination and blood pressure examination.

Brig. Gen. Francisco Patrimonio, 302nd Brigade commander, was quoted as saying the involvement of different stakeholders is consistent with the spirit of “Bayanihan” to address the health concerns of the people.

“The military’s participation in the MEDCAP in partnership with various stakeholders was part of our continuing efforts in delivering basic health services to the less privileged residents in the brigade’s area of responsibility” Patrimonio was further quoted as saying.
